A Personal Account & Brief History of PURR

2021 -2022 Sanctuary

Emerging from the pandemic, PURR resumed its activities, organizing a social club, reopening our campground resort and makerspace, and hosting events again. In no time, PURR has blossomed into a vibrant creative hub, fostering art, music, and meaningful connections, while consistently generating cherished memories for the PWN art & music community.

We hosted a diverse range of inhouse events and festivals, including some epic pre burn and Halloween parties, and even Roller Disco.  We also opened up our venue to outside event organizers who brought Ohfest, EOS, Rebirth and Mystic Vibes to PURR.  Check out the event galleries here.  I have heard countless stories of guests finding their current tribe/group of friends through attending events at PURR.

In addition to being a viable venue for gatherings, PURR became a sanctuary for residents, members and guests who used our space to rest, recreate, and make art and friends. Past residents Allen Oh, Olive Patterson, Fermin Romero, Amanda Floeting, Cassandra Houghton as well as members and guest creators Gabrielle Tousignant, Chandra Chenvert, Narayan Pallipamu, Nathan Schultz, Trina Chapa, James Jensen, Josh Tobey, Duane Georges, Jonah Ury, Handy & Genevieve, Jerome Martinelli, Dennis Lowrey, Kati McClure, Meg Grover, and Lona Garner have left their imprint on PURR with their art, donations and personalities.  Occasional community dinners and card nights bind the community together.
